What is Standup (Daily Scrum)?

Quick Definition

A brief daily team meeting (typically 15 minutes) where each member shares what they did yesterday, what they're doing today, and any blockers.

How it works

Standups originated in Scrum as the 'Daily Scrum.' They're designed to be quick synchronization points, not long discussions. The standing format (originally literal) enforces brevity. Modern teams often do async standups in tools.

Standup (Daily Scrum) in practice

Every morning at 9:15, the team spends 15 minutes. Each person answers: (1) What did I ship yesterday? (2) What am I working on today? (3) What's blocking me?
